Common questions

FAQ

Short answers. If yours isn’t here, call. A person picks up.

How often should I change the filter?

Look at it once a month. Change it when it looks gray, usually every one to three months. Pets, a garage shop, or a remodel or a dusty garage shop will load a filter faster. A clogged filter is the first thing we check on a no-cool call.

Will a heat pump keep up in a cold snap?

Yes. It just runs longer. Down near the teens, the heat strips or the furnace help. Leave the heat pump on. Flipping it to emergency heat and forgetting it only runs the expensive strips.

What does an emergency call cost?

Daytime diagnostic is $89, demo price. After 5 p.m., on weekends, and on holidays the trip is $189, demo price. That covers the drive and the diagnosis. Parts are separate, and we price them before they go on the system.

Do you finance a new system?

On a real job we can talk through payment options with a lender. This website is a demo. It does not take applications, and it is not a real financing offer.

Are you a franchise?

No. Hilltop Heat & Air is one crew out of Monticello. Cole started it with a single van. We are not a chain, and we do not hand your call to a call center.
